Pro Tip of the Day - mario paint http://protipoftheday.com/taxonomy/term/147/0 en Pro tip: a finer point pen in Mario Paint http://protipoftheday.com/node/181
In the Super NES Mario Paint, you have three pens to work with, each a varying thickness.

But sometimes you just need something a little finer, for detail work.

In that case, you go into the Stamp Editor and create a stamp that's a single pixel of whatever color pen you need.

Then save, exit, and go back to drawing.

You then select the Stamp tool and pick your newly created stamp and drag it around like it's a pen. The result?

Extra fine lines!

Which artists tell me is a Good Thing(tm), so I believe them.
mario paint pro tip SNES Tue, 26 May 2009 12:32:08 +0000 Will 181 at http://protipoftheday.com Pro tip: hitting the star on Mario Paint's title screen http://protipoftheday.com/node/129
Mario Paint is chock full of stuff to play around with. Even the title screen can keep you occupied for a while.

Just click on all the letters for different effects:

Click on the "P", though, and you get this tranquil scene.

Each thing wandering around on the screen has a different sound associated with them, none of them too exciting, but all of them kind of silly. Occasionally, though, you see a star fly by.

It's real hard to click on, because it moves so fast. I have the best luck if I position the pointer on its path ahead of time (it goes the same way every time), and then click as the star passes underneath. What happens if you do?

Stuff starts raining down from the sky and some kind of harp-like music starts to play.

And now you know what the star does, lucky you.
mario paint pro tip SNES Fri, 13 Mar 2009 12:32:14 +0000 Will 129 at http://protipoftheday.com
